Pocket ECG machine costing less than 100$! Come to India
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is India’s premier nuclear research facility located in Mumbai. The scientists in BARC have recently designed a pocket friendly ECG machine that is only slightly bigger than a wallet.
The machine is still some away from commercial production, but the expectation is that the price of the machine would be around 60-70 USD (i.e. about 4000 INR). The key advantage is that now, it can be a personal device like sugar monitor, BP monitor etc. This is made possible by a massive price reduction by about 90%
This instrument can be operated with mobile phone using Bluetooth technology. The report of the ECG can be sent to a mobile using simple MMS or other apps.
This machine has the ability to churn out 300 ECGs on a single re-charge! In rural areas this could be a great difference.

Kudos to the scientists at BARC!!
